The Smashing Pumpkins are an American alternative rock band from Chicago, Illinois. The band was formed in 1988 by frontman Billy Corgan and guitarist James Iha. D'arcy Wretzky and Jimmy Chamberlin soon joined and the classic lineup of The Smashing Pumpkins was born. They released their debut album Gish in 1991 to critical acclaim. Their second album Siamese Dream propelled them into mainstream success with singles like "Today" and "Cherub Rock".
