What is Cock Rock?

Cock Rock is a sub-genre of rock & roll / hard rock music that is lyrically (highly) suggestive and sexual in nature, preferring to build male sexuality up, even if it takes female sexuality down a peg or two (or twelve) in the process.

Think Vince Neil of Motley Crue belting out Girls, Girls, Girls or David Coverdale pumping his mic stand with sexual suggestion all over the Here I Go Again video with Tawny Kitaen.

Cock Rock was always about getting the chick, even if she was engaged to your bandmate. Gosh, The Dirt was so, so good. Watch any MTV music video between 1985-1989 and your chance of seeing a Cock Rock video was about 43%.

Modern Cock Rock is best personified by Steel Panther. Perhaps nothing exemplifies the pseudo sub-genre like a parodical hair metal rock band. Stix, Michael Starr, Satchel and Lexxi Foxx are darlings of the modern Cock Rock scene.
