With a name like Shannon Gunz, you better pack the heat.

True to that name, satellite radio host, Shannon Gunz, of SiriusXM’s Ozzy’s Boneyard, as well as Octane and Turbo, fires live ammo on the airwaves every day of the week.

Ok ok, maybe not actual bullets, but we think you get the point. Her shows kick as much ass as she does. And that’s saying something, because the hard rock tunes that she plays aren’t for the weak and timid.

Armed with distortion pedal sensibilities and Milly the Metal Dog, Gunz is the perfect radio personality to help keep the radio-based rock dream alive. Hailing from Arizona, this child of Chino Valley great up listening to rock radio stations when they were still alive and shimmering; when music was trending in exchanged mix tapes instead of over social media posts.

According to Phoenix.org, Shannon is the fiance of Mudvayne and Hellyeah’s lead vocalist, Chad Gray. But, that’s not what is important here. What is important is that the American radio host is appreciated and respected for her work on the airwaves. Fans know and recognize her for her own merit, not just because she has a leader singer in a heavy metal band of a fiance.

She’s interviewed a slew of high profile guests, one of which being Taylor Momsen, the singer of The Pretty Reckless. The band’s producer was Kato Khandwala, a person involved with Shannon Gunz.

How did Shannon Gunz get into Radio and Broadcasting?

She won a contest. The rest is history.

No, but really, Gunz got interested in mass communication in college. She started off by attending Mesa Community College, where her, “... roommates told her she thought she’d be a great talk show host due to her outgoing personality and love of music. At that moment, Shannon decided she wanted to pursue a career as on-air talent.”

At that point, marrying the lead singer of a band probably wasn’t on her mind. Maybe hanging with celebs with a high net worth was, but that’s just part of the job.

Instead, she attended the Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. From their, she was offered an internship with Sirius Satellite Radio (now SXM). It was there that she joined The Covino and Rich Show, garnering accolades for high quality work; work that got her escalated to on-air talent rapidly, a place she has remained ever since, despite moving from New York to Las Vegas.
